Nike Snowboarding: Feed Me – A Greasebus Tour

Posted in Uncategorized by Tj Nelson on June 11, 2010

From what started initially as a question, “Is this possible?” turned into a two week tour from Reno, NV to Portland, OR powered by a bus fueled by used vegetable oil.

Tyler Morten is one of my best friends and an independent designer that does contract work for Nike Snow. He was asked to put together a story to go along with the tour.

How can we make this concept of sustainable travel entertaining?

What came to fruition was a story where athletes were required to eat their way through 500 miles of highway by consuming tater tots, corn dogs and doughnuts to create enough grease by-product to get us to Portland.

Between the driver, a team manager, the athletes, filmers, photographers, a production manager, and my self – collectively, there were 15 of us.

I’ll save the editorial writing for the substantial coverage in Snowboarder, but none the less.. I wuz there.
